Quaero supports MediaEval’13

Mediaeval_logo_squareMediaEval is a benchmarking initiative dedicated to evaluating new algorithms for multimedia access and retrieval. It emphasizes the 'multi' in multimedia and focuses on human and social aspects of multimedia tasks. The MediaEval 2013 workshop brings together researchers participating in the MediaEval 2013 benchmark (http://www.multimediaeval.org/mediaeval2013/) to report on their findings, discuss their approaches and learn from each other.  

This year, besides the 6 classical tasks of evaluation of MediaEval, 6 new tasks were proposed to the participants: Question Answering for the Spoken Web, Soundtrack Selection for Commercials (MusiClef Task), Similar Segments of Social Speech, Retrieving Diverse Social Images, Emotion in Music (also an Affect Task), Crowdsourcing for Social Multimedia.

Several partners of Quaero (Inria, Technicolor, Vocapia Research, LIMSI, etc) take part regularly in the editions of MediaEval, as Co-organizers of tasks, suppliers of data for the evaluation, or participants in the evaluations.

The workshop will take place in Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain, on Friday-Saturday 18-19 October 2013.
